The 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) is coming to a close as the most exciting part of the competition takes place this week. The 2022 IPL playoffs will feature three games (Qualifier 1, Eliminator and Qualifier 2) before the 2022 IPL Championship finals take place.
The IPL playoffs will take place between the four top teams in the competition. At the top of the 2022 IPL points table is the Gujarat Titans (GT) with 20 points, followed by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in second place with 18 points. RR are ahead of the third place finishers Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who are also on 18 points but have a lesser net run rate than RR. Royal Challengers Bangalore are in fourth place with 16 points.
Teams and Dates
The top two teams will start the IPL playoffs with Qualifier 1. GT and RR will play each other at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 24. The winner will automatically qualify for the 2022 IPL Championship final while the loser will have one more crack in Qualifier 2 when they face the winner of the Eliminator.
LSG will take on RCB in the Eliminator on May 25 also at the Eden Gardens. The loser gets eliminated and the winner will play Qualifier 2 on May 27 in Ahmedabad. The 2022 IPL Championship final will also take place in Ahmedabad on 29 May.
Qualifier 1: GT vs. RR Betting Odds and Predictions
GT are one of the two new IPL franchises that have made their debut in the 2022 IPL and what a season they have had so far! GT have been the most dominant team in the 2022 IPL and have held the top position throughout the 2022 IPL. So no surprises that Bet365 has them in as the betting favorites against RT. GT go in with odds of 1.8 in Qualifier 1 while RR are slight underdogs with odds of 2.

GT are coming off a loss in their last group game and one of the reasons for that loss is due to their openers failing. GT need either W Saha or S Gill to fire at the top of the order as there is too much pressure on the middle-order.
GT also need their captain H Pandya to contribute with both the bat and ball. Pandya’s captaincy has also impressed a lot of people and he will once again have to innovate and outthink the RR skipper S Samson.
Keys To Victory – RR
RR had a great start to the 2022 IPL as J Butler was blazing at the top of the order for RR. Butler’s performances have dipped during the last few games and RR have found it tough going. They need the big hitting opener to step up and deliver in the next couple of games and take RR to their second IPL Championship trophy.
RR seems the stronger team on paper but only when all of their players contribute. If RR is going to win this game, we believe it will be mostly due to a team performance than an individual contribution.
Prediction: We are going to back RR to pull of a surprise victory over GT.
Eliminator: LSG vs. RCB Betting Odds and Predictions
LSG are the second new IPL franchise this season and they will be very pleased for making it to the playoffs. LSG had a massive win in their last game when their openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul put together an unbeaten partnership of 210 which was sufficient for them to beat the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
LSG need another big contribution from their openers and then give the middle-order the liberty to play the big shots. LSG’s big concern is that they don’t have a great bowling line-up.
RCB are coming off a big win over GT in their last game and that was because V Kohli finally got some runs. Kohli is a big match player and RCB will look to him to deliver along with captain Faf du Plessis. RCB have an explosive batting line-up that will look to exploit the LSG bowlers.
Prediction: We feel RCB have more depth in both the batting and bowling departments and hence expect them to win the eliminator!
