2022 T20 World Cup Betting: India vs. South Africa on Oct 30
The T20 World Cup is currently underway in Australia and cricket fans from around the world love the non-stop T20 action where the best teams in the world battle it out to be crowned the 2022 T20 World Cup champions.
India is among the top three betting favorites that are expected to win the T20 World Cup. India had a tough opening match against arch-rivals Pakistan and at one stage looked like they were going to lose again to Pakistan. However, the men in blue put in an inspired performance led by ex-captain Virat Kohli and ended up winning that game with the final ball.
Their next match is against the Netherlands on October 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). India should be able to win that game easily as the Netherlands are still trying to find their feet in T20 cricket. India will have a much bigger challenge when they face the South Africans on October 30 at Perth.
India vs. South Africa – Betting Odds
At the time of this writing, India is the betting favorite against the Proteas with the bookmakers giving India odds of 1.30 while South Africa are the underdogs with odds of 2.25. We expect those odds to change a bit after India beats the Netherlands on October 27.
Our betting experts think these odds might be a little too much in favor of India due to their win over Pakistan and because of the millions of Indian fans who will bet on them. We think the odds are a lot closer and we personally have it as 1.2 for India and 1.6 for South Africa as we think the conditions in Perth will suit the South African fast bowlers more than India.
India vs. South Africa – Different Bets To Place
The most popular bet for the India vs. South Africa game will be on the outright winner. The odds aren’t great for this bet as both teams are pretty evenly matched on paper. If you are looking for better odds, you might want to consider betting on a few side bets which we have listed below.
Top Batsman: You need to pick which batsman you think will finish as the top scorer in this game. To get this right, you need to look at the current form of each player, their record in Australia and whether they are good at scoring runs at a bouncy track in Perth. If you like India, look out for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who is due to score runs!
Top Bowler: You will need to pick which bowler you think is going to end up with the most wickets. Given that we expect a bouncy track in Perth, it will be wise to bet on the fast bowlers rather than the spinners. India’s pace attack is not as strong as it should be with injuries to J Bumrah and D Chahar. South Africa on the other hand has a great pace attack with KG Rabada and LG Ngidi.
Player of the Match: You need to bet on which player you think will end up putting in a match-winning performance. Since T20 is mostly a batsman’s game, it makes more sense to back a batsman to win the player of the match than a bowler.
India and South Africa – Squads
We expect both sides to feature a pretty similar playing XI unless there are surprise injuries.
India: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, M Shami, Arshdeep Singh.
Reserves: Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj.
South Africa: Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma (C), Aiden Markram, David Miller, Rilee Rossouw, Wayne Parnell, KG Rabada, LG Ngidi, T Shamsi, Anrich Nortje.
India – Keys To Victory
India needs a good opening partnership to take the strain of the middle order. If they can put together an opening partnership of 40-50 runs, it will greatly increase their chances of winning. India will also need Arshdeep Singh to bowl a little more economically as he has proven to be costly, especially at the death.
South Africa – Keys To Victory
South Africa will have to take early wickets and the Indian openers cheaply or the game can get away from them pretty quickly. South Africa’s pace attack is going to be key for them to win. In the batting department, they will need runs from Quinton de Kock and David Miller.
Prediction: We expect this to be another closely contested game as both sides are pretty evenly matched on paper. However, we are going to give India the edge and back them to win this game as we believe they have a lot more experience in the side with R Sharma and V Kohli that will help take them over the line.
