Tokyo 2021 Olympics – Betting Action From 23 July to 08 August
The Olympics takes place once every four years and is usually one of the biggest sports extravaganza’s whenever it takes place. The Tokyo 2021 Olympics has not had a huge build-up due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all the controversy surrounding this year’s Olympics.
The Tokyo Olympics was initially scheduled to take place in 2020, but the pandemic forced the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) to make a difficult decision to postpone the games to 2021. The IOC and the JOC were also under tremendous pressure to cancel the 2021 edition due to the pandemic, but they decided to proceed with the Olympics.
2021 Tokyo Olympics – Restrictions
The IOC has imposed stringent requirements on all athletes taking part in the 2021 Olympics. They will have to quarantine for three days upon arrival and wear masks at all times. They have been told to stay away from tourist locations and not engage with the general public.
The athletes were also cautioned not to have sex during their time at the Olympic Village and not to use the free condoms being handed out but take them back home as souvenirs. Their beds are made up of cardboard and are designed to support the weight of just one athlete and not support any sudden movements to discourage any further sexual contact.
International tourists have been banned from coming to Tokyo to see the games. There were talks initially of allowing domestic tourists from filling just 50 percent of each venue where the games are taking place. However, with the delta variant doing its rounds and only 11 percent of Tokyo vaccinated, a call might be taken for the games to take place in front of empty chairs.
