India Will Play 2 x T20 Games Against Ireland On June 26 & 28

India will complete its home series against South Africa in mid-June and then prepare for a competitive tour of England in July. India is set to play 1 test match, 3 T20 matches, and 3 T20 games against England. However, before India starts their tour of England, they will make a quick stopover in Dublin to play 2 T20 games against Ireland.

India vs. Ireland T20 Series – Not Getting Much Media Attention

India will make a very quick stopover in Dublin to take on Ireland in these two T20 games that will take place on June 26 and 28 at the Malahide Cricket Stadium in Dublin. The BCCI scheduled these 2 T20 games to give India a chance to acclimatize to conditions in the UK before taking on England in July.

This T20 series against Ireland is not getting as much media attention as the England series and there’s good reason for that. Ireland is still considered cricketing minnows and most cricket pundits expect India to have an easy time and win 2-0. Ireland will relish the opportunity of playing India which is one of the most powerful T20 sides in the world.

The best way for Ireland to get the media talking about this quick stopover is to pull off a surprise victory against India. This is going to be difficult for Ireland but they do have some exciting T20 players that will be able to use their home conditions and make things competitive for India.

Betting Odds – India vs. Ireland

Sportsbooks don’t expect Ireland to pose any threat to India and are predicting a 2-0 result in favour of India. Most sportsbooks have India as the overwhelming betting favorite with odds of 1/1 while Ireland currently has odds of 6/1 to win with a 2-0 result.

Our betting experts agree with these odds as we feel team India is a little too powerful for Ireland in both the batting and bowling departments. However, we are not going to write off Ireland completely as India has always found it difficult to win in the first game of an overseas series, especially in UK conditions.

Apart from betting on the final result of the game for these two T20 matches, you also have multiple side bets that you can wager on. Some of these side bets include which team will bat first, which bowler will take the most wickets in the game, which batter will score the most runs in the game, which team will hit the most fours, and which player will win the man of the match award.

Key Factors To Consider For Both Sides

Fatigue and Match Preparation

Ireland has not played a lot of T20 cricket in the last few months and this can turn out to be a positive or a negative for team Ireland. This can be positive because their players are fresh, healthy, and raring to have a crack at India. This can be negative because the lack of game time could cost them big time!

India has played a lot of T20 cricket in the last few months with the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), followed by the 5 match T20 series against South Africa. India comes into this series with a lot of game time, albeit in the sub-continent. The negative aspect of it is that some of these T20 players could be burnt out, especially mentally due to the hectic T20 schedule.

Team Selection Will Be Critical

Ireland: is going to be playing at full strength as almost all of their key players are injury-free, fit, and available for selection. The team will be led by Andy Balbirnie and the veteran Paul Stirling will be one of the key players for Ireland.

India: will most likely rest some of their key players against Ireland to have them ready for the series against England. We will also need to see if some of their top players like R Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Kuldeep Yadav are able to recover from their injuries and be available to play against Ireland.

Potential Squad For Both Teams

India: Ruturaj Gaikwad, I Kishan, S Iyer, R Pant (captain), V Iyer, D Hooda, H Pandya, D Karthik, Y Chahal, B Kumar,  H Patel, A Singh, U Malik, A Khan, R Bishnoi, and A Patel.

Ireland: Andy Balbirnie (C),  Gareth Delany, Simi Singh, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Neil Rock, Shane Getkate, Barry McCarthy, Benjamin White, Craig Young, Andy McBrine,  Curtis Campher, Josh Little, George Dockrell, Mark Adair, and Paul Stirling.

Conclusion: If you want to take a gamble, go ahead and back Ireland to win the first T20 as India is going to be at their weakest during their first overseas game. If you want to play it safe, then go ahead and bet on India to win both games and finish with a 2-0 result.
