Indian Bettors Can Use These Tips To Bet On UFC 256 On December 12
The UFC is set to host its final pay-per-view (PPV) card of the year on December 12 at the Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 256 will feature several exciting fights that will get fight fans from India eager to get in on the betting action. We take a look at some of the key fights on the card and give you our take on who we think will come out on the winning side.
Main Event: Figueiredo vs. Moreno
Deiveson Figueiredo fought on November 22 when he defended his UFC flyweight belt against Alex Perez and finished the fight in under 2 minutes in the first round. UFC President Dana White asked the Brazilian champ immediately after the fight to stay back in Las Vegas and defend his belt at UFC 256.
Figueiredo was happy to fight again in December and will face the number one challenger Brandon Moreno who also fought on November 22 and won his fight against Brandon Royval by TKO. Bookmakers have Deiveson Figueiredoas the overwhelming favorite with odds of 1/3 and Moreno as the underdog with odds of 12/5.
It would be hard to bet against Figueiredoas, given how impressive he has been in the division so far. He has a 20-1 record in his fighting career and is better than Moreno both on the feet and on the ground. The only thing that can go against Figueiredoas is his weight cut. Given that he cut weight less than a month ago, we need to see how well his body responds to a second weight cut in less than a month.
If the weight cut is tough and Figueiredoas is compromised, Moreno could have a better chance of winning, especially if he takes the fight into the championship rounds. We would put our money on Figueiredoas and bet on a KO/TKO.
Co-Main Event: Ferguson vs. Oliveira
This is one fight MMA fans will not want to miss and is as good as the Main Event, except that it will only be for three rounds. Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson was determined to fight once more before the end of 2020 and decided to take a fight with the impressive Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira.
Ferguson is coming off a loss to Justin Gaethje in May 2020. Ferguson showed heart and grit in that fight as only Tony Ferguson can, but he also took a beating. UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov believes that Tony Ferguson will no longer be the fighter he was after taking so much damage against Gaethje.
Oliveira is coming off a submission victory of Kevin Lee, which was back in March 2020. The Brazilian submission specialist has preferred to wait around for a title shot or one more fight to give him a title fight. The fight against Ferguson is in all likelihood going to help him achieve that objective. The bookmakers have Ferguson as the betting favorite with 4/7 odds and Oliveira at 6/4.
Oliveira is a BJJ specialist, but Ferguson trains with Eddie Bravo and is just as good as on the ground. Both men will have no problems staying on the feet and striking, but MMA fans would not mind at all if this gets into a grapping match. This is a difficult match to call because we have no idea if Ferguson will be the same fighter as before.
We would go out on a limb and put money on Oliveira to win.
Other Exciting Fights
There are several other exciting fights on the main card as well as on the preliminary card. We take a look at a few of those fights and give you our fight predictions.
Moicano vs. Fiziev:
Moicano was one of the top prospects in the lightweight division before he suffered a string of losses. He won his last fight against Damir Hadzovic on March 15 in impressive fashion with a submission win in 44 seconds. However, he is the underdog with odds of 11/10 against Fiziev 8/11, who won his last fight against Marc Diakiese in July. We would put our money on Moicano.
Jacare vs. Kevin Holland:
Jacare D’Souza returns to middleweight after moving up to light heavyweight and losing to Jan Blachowicz, who is now the UFC light heavyweight champ. Jacare is the betting favorite with 13/10 odds against the young and impressive Kevin Holland, who has 5/8. Holland has fought four times in 2020 and won all four of his fight. We would put our money on Holland.
The preliminary card also has several exciting fights, including Cub Swanson vs. Daniel Pineda, Brazilian submission specialists Mackenzie Dern vs. Virna Jandiroba, and Gavin Tucker vs. Billy Quarantillo. Our picks would be Pineda, Dern, and Tucker.
